ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.
- Manages clinic for specialty providers outreach.
- Manages the coordination of anesthesia for surgery-consulted service.
- Manages surgery department which includes peri-op and intra-op.
- Manages sterile processing department.
- Responsible for delegating or performing daily administrative duties of the departments of surgery, anesthesia, sterile processing, specialty clinic, including: staffing and scheduling, daily communications, materials management, policies and procedures, etc.
- Participates in the design, support, and maintenance of staff schedules and patterns.
- Ensures the assessment and documentation of the health status of all patients as outlined in the Standards of Surgical Nursing Practice.
- Responsible for quality improvement initiatives.
- Patient Satisfaction management.
- Billing oversight.
- Budgeting and cost control.
- Responsible regulatory standards
- Establishes surgical standards of nursing practice with resources ie. AORN.
- Responsible for the development, review, and revision of all policies and procedures.
- Attends monthly departmental head and Supervisors meetings.
- Holds Departmental meetings on a monthly basis.
- Organizes departmental education of staff ongoing and on orientation.
- Rounds with direct reports quarterly and as needed.
- Participates in activities, which represent Saunders Medical Center.

- Understand and comply with the requirements of the Saunders Medical Center’s Compliance Program, including, but not limited to the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Policy, all Saunders Medical Center-wide policies for compliance, and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities.
- Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by Saunders Medical Center policy and as requested by the Supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Interviews and selects staff, and, coordinates their orientation.
Evaluates and supervises nursing and assistive personnel performances.

Education and/or Experience
Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional seminars, literature, and assimilates into practice.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Certificates Licenses, Registrations
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska.
Education or experience in the health care setting that includes basic management principles and/or responsibilities.
Bachelor degree preferred.
At least three years recent clinical experience in Surgery Suite/Recovery Room.
Current BLS certificate
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
Language Skills
Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions and possess positive skills in communication. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, visitors, and the general public.
Utilizes extensive communication skills to direct department and coordinate rapidly changing and complex care needs with all members of the Health Team.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate at the level necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written, diagram or schedule form.
